16 Feb 2002: Hi guys. We (me and Nando) returned today in Italy after a tremendous trip while Derek is still spending few days in Koror. We had lot of troubles due to the big delay on way back to Koror. 63 hours of strong wind and high waves. Such a drama. Then we lost our planned flights and we had to reach Manila trhu Yap and Guam. We spent two nights in Manila and then we are finally home. Yes, we did it. Thanks for your support, your patience and your faith. Logs will be online as soon as Nando will type his handwritten log into a file (me and Derek used computerized logs) and few pictures will be online hopefully starting from next Monday. .

Sonsorol island is located in the North Pacific Ocean (05°18N 132°12E according to DXAtlas), 1,9 sq.km, low coral, DXCC country is T8, Palau, Cont. OC, CQ zone 27, ITU zone 64.

We are planning this activity since August 2001. Originally we had a schedule for November but after the WTC disaster we postponed the trip. Actually the schedule is 6-13 February 2002. We have to use a boat and this will cost us a lot (900$ each day). To be active during a full weekend, we'll leave Koror Wed 6 Feb and after one full day on boat we hope to land in Sonsorol and be active from Fri 8 Feb to Mon 11 Feb. Our goal is to make as many contacts as possible for IOTA hunters, mainly on 10, 15 and 20 metres both SSB and CW. We hope to always have 2 stations simultaneously working, mainly in SSB (Nando IT9YRE and Maury IZ1CRR. Derek, G3KHZ will operate on CW). The call is unique: T88SI. This is an IOTA expedition, therefore we'll not concentrate on WARC or low bands, sat or 50MHz. We are sure we'll not give you a new country (T8 is not a most wanted) but obviously a new IOTA, then help us giving everyone the opportunity to contact us.
