IOTA Notice [August 97]
IOTA CHECKPOINTS: CHANGES
The following announcement was made on 1 September by Martin Atherton, G3ZAY,
Chairman of the RSGB IOTA Committee.
The following changes to the list of IOTA Checkpoints are being made with
immediate effect:
England (all G prefixes except 0), Ireland and Portugal:

England (call prefix G0 only), GM, GW, GI, GJ, GU, GD, and all British SWLs:

England.
Italy, San Marino:

USA Call-numbers 1, 2 & 3:

Switzerland, Austria:

For all other countries the checkpoint arrangements are unchanged.
The IOTA Committee would like to thank Philip Marsh, G4WFZ, Massimo Balsamo,
IK1GPG and Tom Webster, WT2O for carrying out their checkpoint duties so
effectively over several years and wish them a happy retirement.
In Italy the IOTA Country Assistant and Committee Member for Europe, Mauro
Pregliasco, I1JQJ, will head a checkpoint team of three, consisting of
himself, Valeria Pregliasco, IK1ADH and Maurizio Bertolino, I1-21171.

Checkpoints are not authorised to accept for IOTA credit QSL cards confirming
contacts made with islands/groups whose Reference Numbers have been issued on
a provisional basis.

Roger Balister, G3KMA, RSGB IOTA Manager reports that the operation by BY7KQ
from Guishan Dao in November 1995 does not count for IOTA. According to
information received most of the contacts were made from a boat and not from
the island itself.
